The Role
A real life work experience in a diverse and cosmopolitan city, has been challenging exciting and an unforgettable experience.
International experience with working with a multicultural team will be beneficial for any future job. Colleagues were helpful, guiding and we created a strong team
Management were supportive throughtout work, instructive as a teacher with a good balance of friendship.
Each day there were plenty of opportunities to be kept busy, emails, phone calls, completing projects, starting new ideas and events.
Had the opportunity to discover different areas in the work place, not only events but deeper to sales and marketing, and food and beverage.
My main skills developed are also those that will be helpful and beneficial and transferable such as my communicational skills, via speech and letter writing. I believe that my time management has also improved greatly. My understanding of events and operational procedures in Events will prove to be most useful in the future and will be a solid foundation for any future endeavours. This placement challenged me and has given me the determination for a career in the event industry.
The Company
A busy atmosphere, with a sense of happiness and enjoyement of the job,
Placement was very well organised, flights, accomodation, visa all arranged. Layout of placement could be taylored to the student on placement.
Training was mainly on the job, as experience first hand was the best way to come to terms with an event job. Attened various training days - through, wine tasting, genuine hospitalilty, etc
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Have been offered a job after I graduate if I wish to return.
The Culture
I interacted and became very friendly with many colleagues, with the social scene very active most weekends. 'Work hard, play hard' comes to mind
Dubai can be very expensive, but as accomodation was provided and lunches most costs went on the nightlife and dinning out!
Plenty of bars, clubs restaurants to choose from, always something happeing in Dubai - an amazing experience.
From social clubs, to sports - scuba diving, surfing etc, to shopping! (Huge shopping malls)
