The Role
I would never suppose that I will enjoy this placement so much. I really felt that my work was necessary and my line manager took seriously my opinion.
I worked in a quite small, 'cosy' engineering office. Poeople there were talkative and at ease.
My supervisor was the best supervisor ever! It seems he really wanted to teach the know-how the young generation.
I had always things to do. Sometimes the work was very intense and sometimes the was no rush. It depended on a situation the project was then.
I loved that. I had a time to analise a problem by myself and find a solution. After that we disscussed with my supervisor the things which need to be improved/changed/omitted etc. I could always ask questions in case of any doubts.
I experienced how a real engineering work looks like and how an engineer should behave to a labourer to create a good team. I experienced how the work is ogranised to run a massive project.
The Company
kind of a familly atmosphere, really nice.
When I joined the team my supervisor told me the same day what are his ideas for a job for me for the next few months!
I had an opportunity to undergo a special, expensive 'Confined Spaces' training to enter a tunnel and 'Asbestos Awareness' training. I could do more if I wanted, there was no problem with that.

Subsidised Canteen

Healthcare/Dental
Don't know yet, but it seems there is a big chance to come back!
The Culture
There was.
Unfortunatelly it was London. Luckily South-East London not Central, but still London.
There wasn't much nightlife in the aera I worked, because it was kind of periphery of the city, but nobody lived exactly there or very nearby, so the nightlife really depended on where was your home! My was near my job and at the same time near university campus and its facilities:)
Oh yes, it was very close to Olimpics!
