  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was doing interesting and varied work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The jobs given to me had a large amount of responsibility attached to them, which made me feel valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had support and guidance when it was needed, but equally they seemed to trust me to carry out on my own once I had learnt about it.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was a large amount of work and most days I didn't look at the clock before lunchtime.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had a mandate to be able to transact IR and FX swaps, sell CP, TDs and CDs on behalf of Nationwide. I had comparable responsibilities to other people on the desks.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Helped greatly with management modules, and further work in the financial industries.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A lot of concentrated work, but plenty of banter and genuine respect between the employees and different desks.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were people who specifically looked out for my interests while I was on the placement, I was given some choice in where I worked in the Treasury.

  • No professional qualifications, but a lot of internal and external courses.

  • I have a good idea of where I would like to work were I to come back.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There is a graduate program that also runs, and I could socialise with the people on that.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Northampton's quite cheap.

  • Not a great variety of nightlife in the area.

  • Plenty of sports teams, social events etc.
