    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Work placement was excellent! I didn't so much have to put into use much of what I had learned in university in, although I did learn so much in terms of technicalities and communication skills.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team seemed overly enthuisiastic about the work I had done which gave me such a confidence boost towards the end of the placement.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Generally, we were given the task and left to our own devices. However, this was of much benefit as it allowed us to take to our own initiative and get the task done. Although management were there to support us if needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Due to the nature of the job a lot of the work required input from other technical engineers, whom are more than often, very busy. Sometimes, it did prove difficult to get a hold of who was needed - this involved some waiting around.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given full responsibility during the placement. This was great as it made us feel as important assets to the company.

  • Everything I have learned during the placement should be put to use in my future studies.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office were chatty and friendly.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It is a well established work placement/scholarship scheme and National Grid are a main player in the organisation of it. This is visible in the placement and it is obvious that the scheme is well organised.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social aspect of the placement was one of its main perks! Everyone got on well and had such great times together.

  • Leamington Spa was quite expensive.

  • Nightlife was poor. Although, I am used to a big city.

  • There were a lot of things to do in and around Warwick.
