The Role
I was not given much to do at the start of my placement and throughout the course of my ten weeks did very little hard engineering.
I felt valued by my colleagues but not to a large extent.
I was able to speak to the team and ask as many questions as I could think.
Often I was bored as I was given little to do and there were very few jobs.
I was given responsibility over a range of tasks and people.
I developed skills during my placement and learnt a lot about the job, this information will certainly help me in later life. If the placement had been slightly more challenging and busy however I think I would have gained a lot more.
The Company
Friendly atmosphere with nice people to help me out when necessary.
The placement seemed rushed and for the first month I had very little to do. This however was not all down to the company because a lot of jobs had to close for the Olympics. However I did feel the organisation of my placement was a bit last minute.
The company have a clear structure of developing their graduates in to chartered engineers and I was very pleased with this aspect.
Healthcare/Dental
I have a job with the company which is great.
The Culture
There were not any other placement engineers on site so this does not apply.
The placement was in a very expensive.
There was no night life in the area.
There were opportunities to get involved with as many activities as you could fit in outside of work but these activities were down to you to arrange.
