    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was hard work but without a doubt the best thing I have ever done!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 95% of the time I was always valued for my contributions which in such a large organisation is very good.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had my own line manager so whenever I needed support it tended to be available.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I like being busy and hate having nothing to do. At Marks and Spencer there was never a time where there was nothing to do, which for me, was great.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was chosen to be appointed into an actual commercial role on placement which was great, I had to line manage staff and theres nothing better than learning in an actual role.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Without a doubt, the skills I have learnt from Marks and Spencer will stay with me for life!

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Obviously in the retail environment pressures mean that sometimes your colleagues are a little stressed but generally it was always an upbeat atmosphere.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Structures were formed for my placement before I even started so I knew exactly what I needed to do.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I attended lots of training workshops to develop me into the best manager I could be.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have signed a contract with Marks and Spencer to return after graduating.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Social scenes were occasionally organised but not often.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home but commuting was quite an expense every month for me.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nottingham and Derby are both local cities so I enjoy night life there anyway.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • More opportunities for activities could have been arranged by the company, however this isnt majorly important.
