The Role
I enjoyed the mechanical engineering design work I was doing which allowed me to apply my university skills to the real world.
The work I was doing would have otherwise had to be completed by my colleagues so I genuinely believe I added value.
My colleagues were more than happy to discuss standard design procedures, and methods of simplifying problems/
I generally enjoyed the work I was doing, and it was not that stressful. I interacted with suppliers too. Having Friday afternoons off was nice.
As I said, the work I was doing would have otherwise had to be completed by my colleagues, so I believe I had a high level of responsibility. Furthermore, my pressure vessel had to be rated to very high pressures!
I really boosted my CAD and technical engineering design skills greatly, and picked up many industry standards and techniques.
The Company
The office was very quite and never seems particularly lively, but the people were nice.
I was the only intern, but they were very accommodating, and my project was clearly defined.
There was plenty of on-the-job training, but nothing really beyond that. Saying that, I did not expect, only being there for the summer and being the only intern.
I suppose it could be possible if I applied again.
The Culture
I was the only one.
Not bad at.
I do not really like going out here very much. The clubs are very boring in my opinion.
There actually was hardly anything.
