    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Initially it wasn't particularly challenging, however, once it picked up it proved to be a fantastic experience. I was able to meet a diverse array of people with different skills and backgrounds. Furthermore there was continual interest from management and even directors - which made it an exciting experience. Continually asked to challenge and question traditional ideas. A must for any undergraduate who is willing to learn, but wants the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Developed friendships not only with my undergraduate peers, but also with the existing employees. The manager and director constantly interacted with me, with conversations from my work to plans for the weekend. You even get the odd free coffee now and again! :-) Extremely friendly environment with colleagues ensuring you are settled/feel valued.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The constant work and effort from the HR programme developer and my line manager have been truly fantastic. My biggest praise has to go towards my line manager who was an inspirational leader. Not only did he make me feel valued, but he always pushed and encouraged me to go further. Took a personal interest in my own development areas and helped me identify opportunities within the organisation to improve on them.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As my experience was a rotation within 3 areas of Finance, I felt this was an area which could be improved upon. One area allowed me to really develop and enhance my skills in which I further pushed to continually add tasks to my original objectives. However, in contrast one area was seemingly not as challenging. In hindsight it was an extremely worthwhile exposure, however, wasn't the most exciting.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Fortunate enough to be given my own project to run. I was given important/core responsibilities throughout the placement. A good mixture of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Allowed me to further develop and enhance my skills in both the Finance aspect & interpersonal. Provides you with the discipline to take into university and emphasises the importance of degree studies.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Good mixture of differing cultures. At times it could have been better, however, casual Friday usually perked up the atmosphere.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Well organised, with pre-defined objectives set within each rotation.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • If you are keen / enthusiastic, Verizon will invest in you w.r.t. personal training and development.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Currently no employment prospects. However, this may change with the introduction of a graduate programme in the near future

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Good social scene with fellow students. However, this is really dependent on the students' proactive nature. Departmental and organisation wide events, which are always amusing.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • N/A as I did not live within the area I worked in

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • A few pubs & clubs, nothing spectacular. But I maintain a night out is what you make of it!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Lots of opportunities to get involved in. Opportunity to play football at lunch @ Madejski astro pitch.

    4/5
