The Role
Overall a good balance between being enjoyable and demanding.
Both associates were very welcoming and appreciative of the work I did; the trainees were really friendly, which made the socials good fun.
Any questions I had were heard patiently and answered carefully.
Generally the balance was good, but most of the work was preparing for, or doing, the assessed exercises. There were some points where I could have been given more to do.
I had some input to documents which would be used for real deals, which was good; I would actually have been happy to do some more 'menial' tasks, if they were helpful.
The training was fantastic - the assessed exercises were demanding but very good practice for the skills which the job demands. The talks on practice areas gave a great insight into what the firm actually does.
The Company
Everyone was friendly, and was having a good time - but the general atmosphere was one of hard work and professionalism.
Very well organised - the timetable we were given at the beginning was adhered to, and changes to the plan were made clear in good time.
The associates and trainees spent a lot of hours cumulatively giving practice talks: partners sat in on all of the assessed exercises. The IT training at the beginning of the scheme was very comprehensive.
Subsidised Canteen
Overall some nice people and great career prospects.
The Culture
The socials which were arranged were enjoyable (pub quiz, bowling, lunches), and the firm was happy to spend a bit on drink, which was nice!
Quite expensive: central London.
Went to a few nice pubs and bars after work.
There are quite a lot of activities advertised around the firm; we weren't really here for long enough to get involved, though.
