    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Various talks on the work HSF does, particular insights on the firms specialties on disputes, how to apply affectively to vacation schemes, what is required in the assessment centre, and why you should work for HSF. Food was provided throughout the scheme along with a social organised by the firm on the evening of the first day. Overall the scheme was highly beneficial for somebody thinking of applying to the firm.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. We had a ADR workshop which required effective negotiation to achieve the client’s goal and meet an agreement which benefitted both parties. This is a skill required for commercial lawyers, especially those working in disputes. Also, I developed the skill of networking not only with solicitors, and the GR team but also with fellow applicants. Also, I developed the skill of researching when I shadowed a trainee solicitor.

  • It was certainly enlightening. The law fair provided an overview of the different seats at the firm and all the solicitors were really helpful in giving an insight into what a trainee is required to do in all seats.
