Overview
Participating in the hackathon was an incredibly enriching experience for me. The challenges posed were sliding window, dynamic programming, and BFS problems style problems. The prospect of enticing prizes kept me motivated, knowing that all participants had an equal chance to win. Through this experience, I gained valuable insights into the culture at Amazon, which gave me a better understanding of what it might be like to work there.
Skills
One area where I particularly saw growth was in handling input from the standard input (stdin). Prior to the hackathon, I hadn't encountered many problems that required reading input in this way, so it was a valuable opportunity for me to practice and become more proficient in this aspect of coding. It was more in the CodeForces style than Leetcode.
Business Insight
Understanding the various aspects of the business and the potential roles available was an enlightening experience. Through presentations, discussions, and interactions with organisers and mentors, I gained insights into the diverse opportunities within the company. Learning about different roles helped me envision how my skills and interests could align with Amazon's objectives, sparking my curiosity and motivation to explore potential career paths within the organisation.
Culture
The company culture and atmosphere at the hackathon were incredibly welcoming and inclusive. I found everyone to be friendly, approachable, and supportive, creating a positive environment for collaboration and learning.
