Overview
As an Insights & Analytics Intern I worked with international ratings data, providing regular reports on channel and programme performance to all departments, including Programming, Marketing and PR, Advertising Sales and Commercial. I often helped the team by answering ad hoc requests on specific programmes and channels. On the more digital side of research, I regularly used Social/ Video on Demand data to create reports to inform the business of the success of digital programming content.
Skills
On a technical side, I learnt how to use Power BI to visualise data and create dashboards, and developed my excel and numerical skills. In terms of soft skills, I gained confidence presenting, liaising with different teams across the business and problem-solving.
Responsibilities
Enough responsibility to keep the job interesting and have a sense of purpose in the team, but never felt anxious or overworked whilst doing my internship.
Support & Guidance
The support and guidance was incredible - the team took my under their wing straight away and I even had a one month training period with the previous intern which was very useful. Beyond the team, I always felt like my coworkers in the London office were always friendly and keen to help. The medium sized nature of the firm naturally allows employees to form a close community with each other, which I personally felt.
Culture
10/10 from a placement student perspective. You're not treated as a number, rather you feel as you're part of a community of people with the the same goals and objectives at work. Very friendly atmosphere and easy to connect with other coworkers. My favourite aspect of the company culture was its focus on treating employees like adults, with very flexible work arrangements in terms of work hours and work location.
