    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Day-to-day tasks would involve monitoring emails, recording media mentions, daily updates, and deals work, helping to spot media opportunities via response sources and checking articles published in relevant outlets. A few months after joining the team I started involved in writing tips and features, press releases, finding and pitching case studies, conducting research projects and helping the team plan PR activity for the upcoming month.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • There are many skills I have learned during this experience. As such, I have developed a stronger sense of attention to detail, as it is crucial to watch out for even small mistakes when you are reaching out to journalists. It's also worth highlighting that working with PR specialists has improved the quality of my writing. In addition to that, I believe I improved my critical thinking and research skills.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement experience. I got a chance to learn a lot about PR and try myself at a variety of tasks, that I did not believe I would be able to work on until later on in my career. I also learned basic soft skills, such as diligence, time management and decisiveness, that would be useful in any future role. I would 100% recommend taking a placement year.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to TopCashback
  • Make sure to practice interview questions no to panic on the spot and learn about the company and activity of the specific department you are applying to. Pay attention to details when completing any tasks and writing your cover letter - even small mistakes could reduce your chances of getting a place. Make sure to be on time and keep your communication professional!
