Overview
This role has involved on-going work on building and driving the launch of an internal mentorship program. For example, working with analytics teams on distributing a needs-assessment survey, collaborating with HR and Talent and Development teams on program goals, philosophy and a framework for the program. Then pilot launching the mentorship framework to a smaller group before official launch to the organization. In addition, there has been work on other HR programs/initiatives rolled out to the organization.
Skills
I have developed my general business understanding immensely since this placement, along with other skills such as communication, particularly in a professional setting with leaders. Other skills developed include adaptability to changing situations and stakeholder management, along with increased confidence.
Responsibilities
During my placement I have been given a lot of responsibility in leading the planning and launch of a mentorship community in the organization. The team I have worked with has had a lot of trust and faith in the work I have been doing and I have felt truly valued by them.
Support & Guidance
My mentor, manager and team have been very supportive. My manager and mentor are always willing to help if I ask and offer if there is anything that they can do. Other colleagues in the office are also very happy to answer questions and provide guidance where needed.
Culture
Unity has a very modern and fast-paced nature with things regularly changing and updating. Among employees, there is a real passion for the company and the work it does. Everyone is inclusive of others, friendly and willing to help. Unity is very flexible and has a lot of trust and belief in the employees.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Unity and would highly recommend the organization to any other students looking at applying for an internship. The people I have worked with have been amazing and I have experienced some incredible opportunities.
