Corporate Assistant Review

My day to day role involves a mixture of office/remote/client site working in which I will be booked to a specific role. I will then be assigned some work to do by the senior members of the team on the job. To complete these I communicate with the clients to obtain relevant information and then document testing on an excel document. Other things the role involves are meetings with the team in order to plan work and also meetings with the client to ensure they are kept up to date.

I have learnt and developed lots of skills during my placement at Mazars. Throughout my placement you meet a lot of different people with various businesses and therefore communication skills are naturally developed. I have also become a lot more confident with presenting both to the team and clients, as this is something that becomes quite common during the role. This has also developed through picking up tips from other members of the team. Due to deadlines involved in the role, time management skills also naturally develop as you are responsible for the work you are assigned so it is important to prioritise and ensure work is completed efficiently

Yes - from the start you are given responsibility within the firm. Once you have completed the training you will be straight onto client work where you are responsible for communicating with the client etc. However, there is plenty of support available if needed to ensure the responsibility does not become too much. The responsibility is also varied so the day to day environment of the job is never too repetitive and you can learn different areas of the businesses

There was a large amount of support given to me throughout my placement. I was assigned a line manager and a buddy when i started at the firm who have been available throughout the placement for help when needed. In addition to this we have had regular catch ups in which i have been able to raise any issues that may have occurred. The fact that the team is welcoming as a whole also helps as I felt comfortable asking any member for help from the first weeks

The company culture at Mazars is great. There is a strong focus on personal values and there are regular events to keep the social aspect going. Everyone in the team is extremely welcoming and there is no one in the office who I wouldn't feel comfortable chatting to. There is a great work life balance at the firm and any work you do is recognised as important. The culture is very people orientated with lots of flexibility such as remote working

I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Mazars. It has been a brilliant opportunity to develop my skills while also gaining insights and relevant work experience for the industry i am looking to go in to. I would recommend anyone thinking of doing a placement to consider mazars as I believe they have develop me professionally and personally. I am also hoping to return to the firm as a graudate once i have completeted my degree

My advice to anyone one applying for mazars would be to take any opportunities they may give you as the skills developed will help for the rest of your career. Also i would advise to research into the company, the company values and also your own service line as this will stand you in good stead for the interviews during the application process. Also, if successful, take part in as many opportunities as possible and learn as much as you can.
