    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • As a vacation scheme student, I sat in the seats of corporate and dispute. In corporate department, I was assigned to do legal research on a legal issue involved in the performance of an outsourcing contract. I was also involved in a M&A deal, conducted company research, and conducted due diligence. In dispute department, I was assigned to analyse an insurance policy and studied a few legal issues. There are many events, too.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed the legal writing skill. I was tasked to draft an email to answer the client's question. Through my supervisor's feedback, I learned to avoid using legal jargons and explain some English legal concepts in detail in the communication with the client.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • The firm organised a lot of presentations and practice area fairs. The lawyers and trainees that I had coffee with also shared their experiences and insights with me. I learned more about the SQE, training contract, different practice areas, and the firm's strategy. I am even more interested in joining the firm.
