    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • It did deepen my knowledge of the practice areas at Taylor Wessing through a speed networking exercise which allowed us to hear from individuals who worked in various departments. It was interesting to gain a snapshot of the different types of work involved in each area and how they differ between transactional, contentious and litigations seats. There was also an opportunity to gain a more personalised insight from trainees which was helpful as it gave an insight into their practical daily jobs.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was enlightening as it allowed me to widen my knowledge of the practice areas and key clients of the firm (many of whom work across multiple areas). It was also interesting to hear about secondment opportunities and the strategy the firm is hoping to employ moving forwards. There is an excellent focus on highlighting skills required within the role and how these can be developed/honed further through various practical tasks that you are made aware of.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was very friendly and open. There were always people willing to help to answer any questions you may have. There seemed to be an excellent rapport between employees who appeared to support and encourage each other to create a nurturing environment within the firm. The atmosphere was welcoming and this was reflected by all the individuals encountered during the two day period. They were all keen to help and give advice to the best of their ability.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight as it allowed me to gain a snapshot of the culture at the firm. It is also one of the few firms that do private client work so that was a department I learnt a lot about while I was there. The graduate recruitment team were very friendly and I think the 1-1 sessions highlighted how supportive they are and how they encouraged us to apply for the vacation scheme.

  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Taylor Wessing
  • I would advise each individual to be themselves throughout the application process. I would recommend researching the firm thoroughly and seeing whether its specialities align with your interests. There is a technology and innovation focus which is palpable within the firm so that is definitely something to be aware of. I would also recommend having a good knowledge bank of the firm which includes key clients, practice areas, recent deals etc as this will help with the interview.
