    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Bank of America operates its internship as a pooled system, which means there is no specific rotations. So on a day-to-day basis, you could be working on projects from different teams and the content of those staffing depends on what teams needed help with, some include: researching data, taking meeting notes, helping with decks, modeling etc. Other than working on the projects, another big part of the internship is to have coffee chats and meet as many people as possible from different teams.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes indeed - most of the work during the internship were real work where we are helping out with the team where they needed some assistance to save them some time. One project in particular which span across nearly the whole internship, I was helping to create a deck from scratch and at the end saw the presentation go live with the clients.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • During the whole internship, we were given a buddy, development officer and also a mentor, which gave all level of supports needed. Any concerns or if any help needed, they are always there for you. Other than those designated people, the people I were working with, I felt comfortable to go to them if there is any questions with the work or if there is anything that I need to clarify.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Bank of America has always been known to have a good culture and that is true through the team. They put a huge emphasis on developing juniors ad spending time to teach interns. Everyone, whether junior or senior, whether which teams, they are all very friendly and generous with their time.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Vey much so - it is a summer to remember! From the work perspective, there was a variety of tasks to build different skills, while there is always enough support available to make you feel like part of the team. From the social perspective - I have learnt immensely from the people that I had conversation with and also made some of the best friendship in this internship!

  • From the very beginning of the process, the business teams will be involved in, So making sure CV and video interviews are to a good quality. In telephone interview and AC, other than preparing for technical or sector specific knowledge, remember to be yourself, smile and be someone that the interviewers would feel happy after chatting to you.
