Bright Futures Programme Review

We attended various upskilling sessions to improve our own personal brand and prepare for the assessment centre at the end of the week. We also attended informative sessions about Clyde & Co itself and different practise areas within the firm and was able to be involved in networking lunches.

The skills based sessions were revolves around developing our skills to suit a commercial law firm and know how to tailor our strengths to different roles. We built upon personal confidence, team work skills and public speaking through presentations on the practise areas. We also did a commercial awareness session which allowed us to have a better business mindset in relation to a global law firm.

Everyone at the firm was extremely approachable and happy to answer any questions myself and other candidates had. We learnt a lot about the firms practise areas and what work is done on a day to day basis within them. There were sessions about the format of the training programme as a trainee solicitor and the routes to qualification which was also very insightful. We also spoke about international and client based secondment opportunities.

Everyone that I interacted with in the firm was very friendly and helpful. Any questions I had were answered and I felt very welcome within the firm. They went out of there way to make us feel included in firm life and allowed us to speak to a range of people working at the firm.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Bright Futures Programme; I feel as though I got a great insight into the firm and it’s culture as well as their various practise areas in more depth. The networking opportunities were great and I got to meet many people from different areas of the firm and learnt a lot from all of them. Some more time working in the practise areas or seeing it in action would have been nice.

I would say it is very important to know the firm and why you would like to work with them specifically not just because it’s a commercial law firm. A lot of work in commercial law firms is very similar so it’s important to pick out the reasons Clyde & Co stick out to you personally. Additionally, speaking to everyone that you are given the opportunity to interact with will be very helpful.
