    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I work as part of the marketing team working on various different projects within the group. Some projects have included social media with the digi team, working on blogs with the content teams, events and campaigns such as freshers fairs, brand ambassador campaigns with some members of the wider team and email marketing. I also attend various meetings daily that allow us all to catch up and run through what needs to be done on a weekly or monthly basis along with any updates about recent trends/ events that we can respond to.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Absolutely, I've learnt an abundance of new skills since I began. I've built so much confidence and now don't feel nervous to take on any kind of role. I've learnt how to give presentations, hold meetings, train up new employees, how to use a multitude of different software including wordpress, dotdigital, trello google analytics, become more proficient in using all kinds of google products including drive, docs, sheets, slides. I know now how to manage my time and projects excellently whilst understanding when to designate time to more important projects. I've learnt how to think outside the box and create exciting ideas that we can use in marketing campaigns.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes tons, I was trusted from the get go, to work on projects of my own without too much aid from my manager. Within my first week I was liaising with different uni contacts and booking freshers fairs up and down the country, keeping all the info about the fairs such as cost location etc in a doc. I then had to book all the travel and accommodation to go with the fairs that we would be staying in. I also ran a whole brand ambassador event on my own which allowed me to be a "boss" which I LOVED!

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Can't express how happy i am with the amount of support i received this year. Not just from my manager, but from everyone in the whole company, including other teams that I wasn't necessarily close too. But if I had a question everyone was always more than happy to answer it. I also got many tutorials and guided through different processes that are used throughout the company. My manager was also always on hand every second of the day if I ever needed her help which I really appreciated as in previous jobs, my manager would disappear for ages which would be really unhelpful, so here made a big difference. No one ever made a problem with trying to help me i felt extremely supported throughout.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I probably wont experience anything like the company culture here ever again. It's set the bar so high for any future roles! You get made to feel like a real employee not a placement student. We have many socials which are always so much fun and have been a great way to connect with everyone at the company. You get recognised for the good work you do and everyone's always excited to see you achieve highly. Being appreciated really makes you want to give your all back. I absolutely love the commitment to diversity& inclusion and sustainability actions. It's very clear that it's not just a checkbox assignment and instead something that's been thought about thoroughly and implemented throughout.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed it an incredible amount, like i said i don't think i'll find another company like it. It's made me so much more confident, I enjoyed every role I did and was always given a good work/ social life balance. I've had the best guidance throughout and absolutely made some friends for life. I feel very privileged that I got to spend a year here and if I ever had the opportunity to go back I would in a heartbeat.

  • 7. Would you recommend RateMyPlacement to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to RateMyPlacement
  • Practice answering interview based questions and maybe test it out with a friend or family member in order to get feedback on how you come across. Research the company and make sure you prep some answers before your 2 interviews. If it's a role you really want then don't slack at the assessment centre, it's very noticeable when someones put in the effort and when they've made half the effort so don't be that person and you may be in for a good chance.
