Overview
The first week included many discussions (mostly over teams) discussing different firm initiatives and selling points. Every participant was assigned a department, along with the supervisor and trainee buddy. Both allocated work which varied depending on the department you were in.
Skills
Practical skills needed for a lawyer in the office, such as memo writing, research and application of both business and legal strategy.
Business Insight
It was exciting to see how the firm's focus on insurance and litigation is highly applicable to almost any commercial field, from cyber to aviation!
Culture
My department was super friendly. The overall company culture was relaxed. Dress for your day dress code, open-door policy, hot-desking etc.
Your Impressions
Extremely. It was challenging but you were guided by industry leaders and experts throughout the experience, so you never felt alone or confused.
Yes
Be passionate, and motivated about why you want to join the firm specifically. They look for motivation and passion for the work they do over your skill level. A 1st class in Law from oxford means less then a smile and concise answer to "why law" that doesn't start with "well since I was 2 months old"
