    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was assigned a supervisor who was an associate at the firm (employment team) and he gave me tasks to complete. The tasks included legal research, drafting a policy, and writing an article. I was also able to get involved in a pro bono clinic where I heard partners giving legal advice to clients. We were also given the opportunity to attend various educational talks such as about Pro Bono in the firm.

  • I have developed my research and written skills. In particular, I have learnt how to write concisely and how to structure a research memo. I have also learnt how to network in a productive way, in order to gain work and connections.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was extremely warm and supportive. We were assigned a 'trainee buddy' who met with us frequently and offered advice. My buddy also made sure to introduce me to others so that I could meet members of the firm. Those higher up in the firm were also extremely friendly, and two partners took the time to have a coffee with me. In general, I felt that my ideas were valued.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Clyde & Co LLP
  • For the interview process, I would recommend being enthusiastic and being yourself. The firm really seems to search out people who will fit well in the firm's culture. Once on the scheme, note down everything you have learnt. It will be important for the final interview and your general development. Finally, make the most out of the networking opportunities. For me, my conversations with fee-earners at the firm really gave me insight into it.
