    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual internship and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Taylor Wessing’s Open Day consisted of talks from graduate recruitment, trainees, associates and a senior partner. The open day provided insight into the application process, the firm’s culture, beliefs and values. The open day mainly consisted of us listening to these representatives, with the opportunity to ask any questions that may arise. It was great to hear about their journeys into the firm and how to customise our applications to help ensure success.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt how to improve my commercial awareness, how to improve my approach to applications, how to succeed in assessment centres and how to make the most of vacation schemes. This was a good opportunity to grasp an overview of what law firms seek in candidates in order to improve their business. I learnt how to develop my communication skills, especially when on vacation schemes. Also, I developed my networking skills.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • The open day provided a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the business and available roles/opportunities. The speakers insured we were aware of the opportunities that trainees and successful vacation scheme candidates receive. The firm seems to strive to improve equality, in both race and gender, but also understands the importance of sustainability. These are qualities that many will find important in a potential place of work -myself included. The training available seems high-quality.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The cultural said to be inclusive and collegiate. A lot of the representative seemed very friendly and engaging. They were eager to answer all of our questions to the best of their ability, which was lovely to see. They also seemed very honest and approachable, whilst appearing down to earth. This is very important for many future applicants. So, overall I would describe the culture, as professional get friendly.
