    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I spent 6 months on the Shopping Experience team and 6 months on the Loyalty team. Both of which involved the execution of daily business as usual tasks, planning, project management of my own projects, aiding in campaigns and more. On a daily/weekly basis, I speak to a range of people, including my immediate team, other areas of marketing department and a range of agencies.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Over my time on placement, I have become much more confident and developed my knowledge of how a real business functions greatly. I have better developed by communication and presentation skills, whilst also learning how to be more flexible. I have picked up improved skills on Excel, and bettered my strategic thinking through partaking in learning and development courses.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given an amazing amount of responsibility on placement, and felt highly trusted by my teams. I owned many of my own projects, many of which were customer facing and were valuable contributions to the business. TJX value their placement students very highly and ensure you are getting as much out of your placement as possible.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a high amount of support throughout my placement, both from within my team and out. Regular catch ups were scheduled, learning and development sessions were provided, plenty of feedback was given and everyone was always happy to answer any questions!

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • TJX's company culture was very open and friendly, with a passion to learn and help you be your best self. Although the majority of my placement was online, this culture came across so strongly and everyone really was so lovely!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I greatly enjoyed myself on this placement and have had the best year away from university. I am very sad to be leaving, yet will be leaving with the most valuable experiences, memories and connections.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to TJX Europe
  • Be yourself and have an appetite to learn and explore! Being enthusiastic about the placement is so important, so think about all the things you are interested in about the placement and what you would like to get out of it. The company is so supportive and wants to give you the best experience possible, as well as you supporting them!
