Overview
I was given day-to-day tasks of a trainee at the firm. We attended sector spotlight talks and learned more about different practice areas through a 'carousel'. I also was able to speak to various members of the firm about their experience and work.
Skills
I learnt how to draft a legal memo, and developed my legal research skills using Westlaw and PLC. I developed my communication skills, speaking with various members of the firm in different departments and levels.
Business Insight
Our understanding of the firm was totally comprehensive. We learnt about it's sector-focus to it's emphasis on diversity and inclusion, to the way it's using legal technology, to the way it's trainees are treated and what responsibilities they are given.
Culture
Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and kind. They were willing to answer any questions, and take time out of their day to explain matters to you if you so wishes. Non-hierarchical and open door policy was evident.
Your Impressions
Immensely. I enjoyed working with my fellow Vac Schemers, performing a broad range of tasks and activities, and getting to know the people of the firm a little better.

Prepare questions in advance. Research individuals you speak to in advance so you are best prepared to ask them questions you want to know. Be open-minded. Be yourself!!!
