    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • The vacation scheme was virtual and required me to complete set zoom calls about different areas of the firm e.g. The climate change group along with completing work assigned by my supervisor e.g. reviewing a lease and catching up with my trainee buddy.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been able to develop my skills in time management, professionalism, oral communication and confidence over the two week scheme. Whilst not a new skill, I have been able to really understand what it is like to work in a full-time professional law firm and how to build relationships with colleagues.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was fantastic to understand how Clyde & Co LLP operates as a business. We had a dedicated talk about the firms business model which was a great opportunity to develop my commercial awareness from a business standpoint. While the vacation scheme was naturally more focused on the role of trainee solicitor, it was fantastic to learn about so many various practice areas.

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Clyde & Co LLP
  • Understand that Clyde & Co are highly sector focused on tangible work. They are not your standard commercial law firm focusing on banking and finance.... Additionally, almost all the work Clyde & Co does has insurance involved, at the heart of it all Clyde & Co is an insurance law firm so understand this when applying to the firm. They also have a global presence that is expanding, so you have to want to join a global family.
