    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • It was well scheduled, in the sense that in spite of the virtual environment the organizers still managed to alternate between interactive sessions with analysts/the Spring cohort and less interactive panel/presentation sessions. I quite liked the overviews of each division that was given, including Global Markets, IB and Technology, and I feel the activities involved (preparing for quick presentations, learning excel skills) were very helpful to understanding more about the firm's operations.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I think the small cohort allowed me to shrug off any hesitance I initially had in terms of asking questions and speaking out, so I do think I improved my communication and networking skills. In terms of technical skills, it was helpful to learn some essential excel functions, though I do think that there is still much to learn about excel formulas.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • I think it was fairly thorough, given the amount of panel sessions and coffee chats we had. Of course I still need to do personal research to truly understand the different tasks of different desks, but I definitely gained a better understanding of the firm and positions available.
