The insight program revolved around shuffling between the departments of the JP Morgan's London branch. We heard from analysts, associates, senior members of different division from asset and wealth management to investment banking and markets and got plenty of opportunities to network as well. After a general overview of the divisions we would then be divided into breakout rooms to practice real-life cases and get an insight into what their daily tasks looked like.
I have developed several of my skills and I think most prominent of them all would be communication. Through a session with DebateMate we learnt how to effectively communicate online which I believe was a great seminar to start the program with. Besides that I also practiced and developed my analytical skills through the different cases which also taught me how to approach such scenarios in real life.
It was really illuminating because I besides commercial banking and to some degree markets I didn't know much about the actual functions and resource division in a global bank such as JP Morgan. I found it extremely exciting to delve into the potential roles and actually had some sense of which divisions suited my competencies.
The culture seemed extremely inclusive and accepting of different cultures. I also appreciated the team spirit and focus on sustainability throughout all functions which created a really positive atmosphere.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Even though it was pretty intense I feel I got a great overview of the company and really enjoyed interacting with different people from the bank and would definitely be interested in applying for further opportunities.
Yes
To just be themselves because JP's looking for genuine people with diverse backgrounds who can add a new perspective to any team. CV guidance and understanding role-specific competencies are also key things to keep in mind while applying.
