Overview
The insight program consisted of a variety of presentations whose aim was to better inform us on the Fintech industry and the many different roles someone can have within the technology industry in general. Additionally, there were group projects which would work on in our spare time and presented at the end of the Insight Week.
Skills
I have developed my understanding of AI and a python Deep Learning program which was talked through in one session. I have also increased my knowledge on the FinTech industry and developed a deep understanding of the many technical roles available and the vital role they play in a company.
Business Insight
It was extremely beneficial to learn about all the new roles that are available and how to combine business and technological knowledge in a workplace environment. From a commercial awareness perspective, it is vital to know the context of any technology someone develops in the workplace and so any insight is extremely useful. This also made me excited for the workplace environment.
Culture
The company culture was extremely friendly and not intimidating. There was always consideration - making sure everyone had adequate breaks every day and being extremely generous with food vouchers and books. Additionally all clients and colleagues who gave presentations were calm and kind and it was a safe environment where you feel you can share your opinion and ask lots of questions.
Your Impressions
I greatly enjoyed the insight due to the variety of things on offer to contribute. You had presentations and small group challenges as well as a larger group presentations. There was a chance to talk to people at all stages of the technological industry - from just graduates to teachers and people who are extremely successful. I also had many chances to network with the other participates which I found was great.
Yes
I would say to have some background knowledge with coding - a small course - in case you do not have a computer science degree otherwise you can get slightly confused. I was also say to go for the opportunity and not to get too anxious at the interview as it was quite friendly and informal.
