  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I definitely feel as though Taylor Wessing made a really strong effort to spend time on advice for the application process, which made me feel as though they cared about investing in us as potential trainees. Also, I really appreciated the presence of [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], a senior partner, at the event, as I felt this really emphasised how important it is in Taylor Wessing's culture to invest in discussions with employees of all levels and experience, and for this to be present at the event was really encouraging.

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The teamwork-focused culture of Taylor Wessing certainly came across in the experience, especially so during [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] talk on the firm's open, collegiate structure. Resultantly, I felt there was a really clear indication of what a full time role within the firm would be like. The trainee Q&A also gave a really detailed insight into what a role as a trainee is like at Taylor Wessing, going over everything from everyday tasks to specific initiatives the trainees are a part of, and that gave a significant insight into life at the firm.

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The virtual experience was extremely helpful in helping me gain a greater understanding of Taylor Wessing's culture. It was made super clear throughout the event that Taylor Wessing is a firm where trainees are encouraged to engage with partners on an everyday basis, and a firm where all employees' mental health is held to great importance - I really appreciated this. While I already had a fairly solid understanding of the company's culture, this event definitely improved on this for me.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This virtual experience really compounded my interest in Taylor Wessing, and I really got the sense that this is a firm I would love to be a part of. Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not paid or reimbursed expenses for the experience, but typically this is not expected of Open Days, and naturally with the experience being virtual, there were no costs I may have needed expenses reimbursed for.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I suppose there was a slight opportunity to make some networking connections with the trainees during the Q&A and the business exercise, however this didn't appear to be the focus of the event. Notably though, I have found networking events online to be not as natural as a in-person networking event, and I appreciated that there wasn't an attempt to 'force' networking in the time that we had. At other Open Days I have attended the networking sessions haven't been particularly effective.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • N/A

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There were discussions of the social events run by TW outside of work, which was really encouraging to hear. Also, while not completely outside of work, there was an evident push of the firm's opportunities to get involved in networks throughout the firm, such as a sustainability initiative, which I found really encouraging. Also, when I asked a question about Taylor Wessing's focus on initiatives, Nicholas Vollors pointed out the opportunities to be involved in innovation initiatives, which I was really impressed by.

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
  • Absolutely; I left the experience really satisfied by the event and really excited to make an application to Taylor Wessing. It was definitely one of the better Open Days I have attended, and when discussing law firms with my course mates I often make reference to my interest in Taylor Wessing because of its teamwork-focused culture; the Open Day really confirmed these interests. As such, I would certainly recommend this virtual experience to a friend.
