    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I really enjoyed meeting Taylor Wessing through the online open day, and felt they offered an interesting range of talks which gave me an invaluable insight into the firm. I really got a feel for the collegiate culture of the firm and now feel confident in submitting a vacation scheme application soon.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The open day was very interactive and I appreciated the ability to ask questions. Alice was always checking up on people regarding technological issues / questions etc... which was really nice and made everyone feel very welcome. I also felt the business game task was a great chance for the firm to show they really do care about potential applicants and want to give them an insight into their potential journey at the firm.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • Lots of guidance was available through the chat, and as mentioned, Alice was always checking in on people which was great.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The open day has definitely helped me to discover more about the firm and has made me feel confident that my skills and interests would align well with Taylor Wessing. This has confirmed to me that I wish to apply to the firm so this was very helpful.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • The structure of the day was made clear from the start and I felt it was easy to follow and worked well overall.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • The atmosphere was super friendly and comfortable, and I didn't feel scared about speaking up. I really appreciated that it was a smaller number of people (around 40 I think), as I have attended open days with other firms where over 100 people were present, and felt this made it quite difficult to contribute and ask questions at times.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It is clear those who spoke at the event felt strongly about assisting potential applicants and wanted to assure everyone that there was a place for them at the firm. I felt this was very genuine and portrayed the firm in a very positive light.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Hearing from a range of employees at the firms about their journeys and their work at the firm was really useful and showed me the different practice areas I could explore at the firm. It was really helpful to hear a breakdown of what would happen on a vac scheme / during a TC as it allowed me to see what I would enjoy about working with the firm.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • This was a huge take away for me from the day, and I felt the firm's culture was conveyed well and portrayed the firm very positively. I was particularly pleased with the answer I received from Dominic FitzPatrick when I asked what sort of diversity initiatives the firm took part in, and it became clear the firm really values diversity and tackling inequality in the workplace.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • All of the talks and the exercise definitely confirmed to me that I wish to pursue a career as a commercial solicitor, and that I would be happy doing this at Taylor Wessing.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Reimbursement was not expected as it was an open day.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • For how short the day was, there were definitely a lot of opportunities to ask questions and talk to people at the firm. There wasn't necessarily enough opportunities overall, but I felt this was completely fine due to the length of the day requiring quite short sessions, and it was made clear questions could be asked after the session / emailed so this was really useful.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Again, the short length of the day prevented some of these opportunities, but I felt it wasn't a loss.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • It was nice to hear about the fun activities and work / life balance at the firm available on the vac scheme, TC and as a qualified solicitor at the firm. I felt it conveyed the firm's collegiate culture and genuine value placed on each colleague.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
  • I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wishing to learn more about the firm.
