    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was better than I expected. Everyone was super friendly and they tried to find a way to make us feel useful, even though it was online. We didn't work on the company software because of the pandemic but we had a nice social good project.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • We worked on a separate social good project and we were responsible for the whole thing. The social good advicors were there to help but they valued our opinion and didn't tell us what to do.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was super nice and friendly. The managers always had time for us if we asked and we had meetings every week, where we were given feedback. Furthermore we had Social Good advisors, who was there to helped whenever we needed it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was quite busy but I didn't feel overwhelmed. I definitely had time to rest and I didn't have to work overtime. I didn't feel like I was wasting the time either and I enjoyed the work.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were responsible for the whole social good project. However, it depended on us how much work we wanted to do on it. We were supposed to come up with a solution for the problem that was given and we could develop it or provide mockups.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It would be useful in my studies because I learned a lot about time management on a bigger scale project. I also learned a lot about teamwork in a professional setting. Furthermore, I learned about setting a goal about minimally viable product and managing expectations compared to time. A good advice is to always underpromise and overdeliver.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was very friendly. I really enjoyed it. I felt welcomed and it was easy to talk to people.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very good. They had to reorganize everything because of the pandemic and they did a pretty good job. I didn't feel useless and I enjoyed working on the project. It would of be nice if there was more opportunities to meet interns from other teams but overall it was very good.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were a lot of trainings and there are resources for online learning. Also, I had meetings with people from around the company, that explained what they were working on. Finally, I always had a chance to ask for feedback from the social good advicors and the managers.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They are pretty good. If you do well, you are directly offered a graduate job, without further applications. Furthermore, if still want to study, you are offered a summer internship for next summer. It really takes the stress out and it's really comfortable.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we could meet with a lot of other interns. The people from my team were very nice and I met a couple of other people.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • We weren't working on site. It was online because of the pandemic.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Again, we weren't on site. Everything was online.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The pandemic made this difficult.
