    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • Overall the virtual experience was not too bad. It allowed to connect more with senior leaders of the firm and speak to people on the other side of the globe. However, I think that what I missed the most was the between inters interaction. There were not a lot of informal sessions (eg lunch break) in which you could spend time with your fellow interns. Overall, I think that the company managed the situation quite well and offered a good program.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The project I was given was really something that the firm needed and this made me extremely happy. I understood I was doing something that could be used also in the future and by other people. Despite being 5 weeks only I was happy to make an impact and have my work valued. It was not just an intern project but it was really a project that someone at the firm would have done anyway. Moreover, also my opinion was valued as much as others' opinions.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • Guidance and support is crucial, especially during such a short period of time. The resources that the firm set up were a lot, from courses to meetings, to chat with senior leaders. Moreover, you could ask anyone at the firm and they would give you a satisfactory answer explaining the business rationale and the technical side of things. All in all I could not argue with the support I was given and also other interns with whom I spoke feel the same.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that the internship allowed me to discover more about one specific sector in particular. It allowed me to see how the real work is done is that sector and compare it with what I do in academia. However, with such a short internship (5 weeks) it is difficult to understand all the sectors in which the firm operates and you would need more time or doing another internship in another desk. All in all however the skills I learned will be forever useful.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • The company did a great job of setting us up to have the best possible experience. Lot of meetings were scheduled and the day was really packed. One note to make on this was that you had so many online meetings that you could not really work on your project. During some weeks we were really full of events. However, I think that this was also due to the fact that it was 5 weeks instead of 10.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • The general atmosphere is great. I enjoyed the internship a lot, everyone is friendly and it is there to help if you need it. Also everybody is available for clarifications and 1 on 1 meetings. Other interns were extremely excited and you could feel their excitement even in video calls. It is really a great experience I would advice to anyone and it is unique because you work closely with some of the best people in the world.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We are the future of the company. For this reason the company really invests a lot of resources in interns and their knowledge, I find it a good transition from university to the job market. It allows to keep on learning a lot while working and growing as a professional. This guarantees a career development that is above average. The reason is that they invest a lot because they expect a great return on you and your work.

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I was assigned tasks that were assigned also to other people at the company that worked there from many more years. This means that you basically find yourself really working and not just doing an "intern project". Hence it is the same experience as working. If you like the internship you will like the job and if you don't enjoy the internship much you will probably not like the job. So you really understand whether it is your career or not.

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Company culture is number one aspect of the company. you can feel it from the recruitment process up to the end of the internship. There are many meetings to understand internship culture and everybody is happy to tell you more about it. The culture is really strong and it creates a good sense of community. From junior to more senior people everybody understand the culture and the importance of it. As an intern I was able to do that as well.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was extremely valuable. Since you see what your future job would look like you understand whether it is a good fit or not. If you are still not sure you can continue your studies, but if you know that's what you like you should stick to it. The internship really enlighted me to understand what my career will look like, this because it is similar to working, so you get the full experience all at once.

People love speaking about what they do and how they do it so you really see that you can interact with them a lot.
