The Role
I really enjoyed the opportunities to meet people at the firm and learn about the teams functionality inside Goldman Sachs. I also found the London Commodities technology team are some of the friendliest and most helpful people I have worked with.
They always valued my opinion and actively encouraged an open debate within team meeting which made me feel very valued.
A lot of support and guidance was given in the field that my management and supervisor when I asked for help. Even in situations where management was not particularly experience they still went out their way to help out with issues I was facing.
Fairly busy in terms of meetings however a lot of day was for us to use at our own discretion. In the beginning weeks a lot was going so we felt the workplace pressure however as the internship progressed we found more of our time was devoted to work than anything which allowed for more breathing room.
A fair amount of responsibility, we were tasked with organizing ourselves and figuring out a deployment and development schedule. Our manager did provide many tips and at the beginning a firm guiding hand however I believe it was entirely necessary.
The only skills I particularly learnt were networking, presentation and debugging code however with this in mind it not a lot of use to me due to the fairly unrelated and more technical degree studies I will be undertaking.
The Company
Everybody was very friendly and supportive, lot of jokes and discussion in the daily stand up and the hierarchy was rarely ever felt.
The internship as a whole was fairly well organized. For the specifics of the project, we were not properly setup with our permissions which caused frustration and a lot of time being wasted.
The company invested a fair amount of time during the first week however it stopped after the week.
Working from home
They employment prospects are appealing however not in the role I took for my internship and after I have completed higher education in order to obtain a more appealing role
The Culture
Quite limited due to the circumstances
Was working from home
non existant
A fair amount of opportunities were offered but not very appealing to me particular as a person
