    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My placement at Porsche Retail Group had completely exceeded all of my expectations, it was an invaluable year for me, both personally and professionally. I was given the best opportunities and experiences that have enhanced my current skills and have allowed me to develop new skills. I would highly recommend this placement to anyone.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Throughout this experience, I immediately felt like a valued member of the team, and was never treated as an intern and was given full responsibility to organise and complete my own tasks and projects. Within my role as a Marketing and Events Intern, I was fortunate enough to work within each department of the Centre, meaning I could gain a full experience of the wide scale business, gaining an insight into how other areas of the business operate.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was constantly given support as and when needed throughout my placement. I started the placement with a thorough 2 week handover period, ensuring I was comfortably introduced into the business and being taught the basic job requirements and tasks that I would have to complete. I was also consistently given guidance from my manager whenever needed but was also left to use my own initiative to complete tasks, which ensured a good balance of support and independence.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given a wide variety of tasks throughout my placement, which ensured that every day was different, making the role so exciting. My tasks were varied, with a combination of a certain number of jobs that I had to complete daily and also longer scale projects, therefore ensuring that my placement was fulfilling and that I was always busy. If I had completed my tasks for the day, I have enough resources to look for other jobs that needed completing or that I could start ahead of schedule.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility within the placement, being solely in charge of my own projects, therefore showing just how important my role was within the business. I was in charge of organising events for the Centre, for both staff and customers, which was really rewarding as I could witness first hand the impact they had, and again is another example of just how much responsibility you are given.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This was such a rewarding year for me, I have received valuable training throughout both online and in-person that not only has helped me for my role within the company but has also helped me personally to develop and enhance my own personal skills, skills that will be both useful for my final year at university and also within future employment. From this experience, I now know what area I would like to work in for the future, something I was unsure about before starting my placement.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My assessment day was the first day that I visited the Centre, I instantly felt relaxed and comfortable and that was due to the friendly and welcoming staff. There is a real family feel and a sense of closeness in the Centre, which made it so easy to instantly relax within my position and I immediately felt like part of the team. Throughout my placement, I have also made some life long friends!

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They currently do not have any possible future prospects such as grad schemes available. However, if a job does become available after you graduate, interns are often highly looked upon and often more likely to be considered for the position as you already have the knowledge of the role and the company.
