    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The time I spent on this internship was most pleasing to me and this is mainly because I got to explore a wide range of marketing techniques and this ranged from social media for improving public relations to actual branding, which I found really fun when working in such a creative team where are ideas just bounced off eachother.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did feel quite valued by my colleagues and this is partially because we worked in a team when I did my internship so I felt like we all had a significant role in the project, particularly when we were doing branding as the tasks were so big that they had to be split and they had to trust me to work there.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support and guidance by my supervisors at the start of my internship when I was just starting up which was good as I was quite inexperienced. However, over the course of my internship, this support was reduced and I eventually became more independent which was really good.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On a daily basis, I was quite busy as there were so many tasks to do and it was quite overwhelming at times, I think. However, it was really nice to know that I worked in a supportive team that were willing to help me with my work and share out my workload as they appreciated that I was not so experienced.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility during my placement, especially during the more independent period towards the end of my internship and this is because I was trusted to do the tasks to contribute to the larger project and I had to ensure that this was to the best of my ability as there was no time to redo such.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that I developed a lot of skills regarding marketing in the practical work I did while working there. Furthermore, in the way in which the tasks were split between me and the rest of the team, I feel like teamwork was encouraged over there and therefore, it improved my teamwork skills.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally, the atmosphere was quite good in the office and this was very helpful in terms of the work we were doing as we required a lot of teamwork and this allowed an easy flow of communication that makes teamwork so effective. However, at times it did feel awkward and I felt out of place.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was organised well and there is much to evidence this. Firstly, the tasks for each project were split quite well between each of us which meant on only a few occasions, I had to ask for extra help to finish the work. Furthermore, it was structured for me to become more independent by the end.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training in marketing, the first hand experience and practical work I did with the team on my internship definitely provided me with lifelong skills for use in the marketing industry and I owe this to the company for providing me with this opportunity to develop my marketing skills.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely like to work there in the future, or perhaps in a similar company, but this internship has certainly affirmed that I would like to secure a career in marketing in one form or another. Furthermore, I would like to imagine that this internship provides me a slight competitive advantage for such.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was quite a good social scene amongst me and the other members of my project team. This was really good to ensure that teamwork between us was very effective. It was only on few occasions, particularly nearer to the start of my internship, where communication was quite stale and borderline awkward.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I think that the living costs near the office were quite high as it was in London. However, I did commute to work in the mornings which meant that I did not have to live near the office. This immensely cut down costs, particularly given how my company covered my travel costs. There were also some relatively cheap socialising opportunities, compared to typical London prices.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There was a lot of nightlife in the area that I worked, which I had the pleasure of attending with both friends and my colleagues at work. This was quite fun as it allowed me to relax with the people at work in a stress-free and fun-filled environment.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside work with the team members. I did get the pleasure of attending an event for a company in which we helped in branding which was really amazing as it was really just great to see something that I worked hard on come into fruition.

    4/5
