    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • With little insight of commercial law as a in-law student, this experience provided a great introduction to corporate life and the culture of the firm. I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the cohort, while the team building and social events help support this feeling of communal support. I also enjoyed the informational sessions.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I believe the firm appreciated my presence and was enthusiastic to have me participating. I never felt that my presence was a burden and that everyone took recuitment and future candidates seriously. After this insight I felt like I new others on the insight for months and not days. Everyone was friendly.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Provided plenty of support via a budding scheme. Both during the insight and afterwards. While the graduate recruitment were happy to answer questions honestly. With each event, I feel I had the guidance and support to feel confident in approaching each task and speak out. The whole graduate recuitment felt on my side.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This opportunity provided both hard and soft skills to tackle a career in commercial law. While the knowledge helped develop my business acumen and commercial awareness. After the insight scheme I had a clearer insight of what was expected from high achieving lawyers in Allen and Overy, this gave me the opportunity to develop and focus on these skills further.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • This event was very well structured, with the graduate recruitment doing a fantastic job to ensure each hour had clear informational events. I felt the insight was balanced in such a way to ensure that the candidates were given an opportunity to socialise while also developing skills in negotiation and communication.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was enthusiastic and insightful. The friendly atmosphere was driven by the graduate recuitment, the the work buddies helping to provide a supportive and open environment. The work buddies were fully willing to answer questions and remain open throughout the scheme. I did not feel dishonesty or manipulation throughout the experience.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I definitely got the impression that the firm invested in me and valued my presence. I felt that I was almost seen as the future of the company and treated in such a way to reflect that. The quality of the sessions and the presence of employees helped reinforce this feeling.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The graduate recuitment and sessions made it clear what skills and knowledge is required and demanded in the law firm. Giving me a wide scope to develop these further. But also sessions including commercial awareness made clear the level of knowledge required while also trying to reinforce these throughout my degree and before applications.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Through lengthy work shadowing and budding I feel that I achieved an honest impression of part of the law firm and the culture. I understand the atmosphere of one department, however, I feel that I have not experienced enough of the departments to get an overall picture of the firm. As each department is different, it would be nice to experience more seats.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Through work experience and tours there were plenty of opportunities to meet people from all parts of the company from Fuse to specific departments. However, a networking specific event would be a fantastic opportunity to properly network with lawyers who have differing viewpoints from partner to trainee. However, the lunches did provide a good opportunity to meet associates and trainees.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social event after the first evening was fantastic, in which there was a friendly and fun atmosphere were everybody could relax and enjoy each others company. I especially appreciate the relaxed venue and graduate recuitment. While numerous evening drinks provided further opportunities to reinforce these. I more relaxed environment for the final evening would be appreciated.
