    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really did enjoy this insight and this is mainly because I got the opportunity to grow as a musician and really develop my musical talents which I feel was extremely useful for me as it made me realise that I had a lot of potential as a musician in the future.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I did feel very valued by my colleagues as we worked together a lot of the time in creating our music and it felt like I had quite a major and important role in this so I can see how they might have valued me in this when I was working there.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support and guidance by my supervisors. Not only would they give me advice before performing, they would also continuously review me after performances and tell me how to improve and it was clear that they were quite knowledgeable in music so I understood their advice well.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I think there was the perfect balance of doing stuff and relaxing. I had a lot of time rehearsing and after this, I would go to performances but this was balanced by quite a nice time of relaxation which was very nice for me to get into the right mindset for performing.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given quite a lot of responsibility in performing by myself and with groups. Also, I played a role in creating music with others and I feel like this held a lot of responsibility as well on top of this so I did feel like I had a lot of responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that the musical skills I developed will definitely help me in the future as not only has it made me realise my potential, it has given me new skills to take forth so I can build on those and be an even better musician and keep improving in the future.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I think that there was generally quite a fun atmosphere in the studio I was working in because we all knew each other quite well and got along really well so this made it such that we could have fun and relax while doing the work which was good for me.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think that the internship was set up very well because they created an excellent balance between rehearsing and improving with actual performances so I could put into practice what I had learnt from my rehearsals which was very good for me as it meant I could continously improve all the time.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think that the company invested a lot in me as they allowed me to use their equipment to practise and improve and I feel like they taught me a lot of new things and gave me many new skills and I also learnt this from the other colleagues working there.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It is not really a place where I could work in the future as they mainly focus on helping young musicians but I would like to work as one of the employees their potentially. However, they did help me to earn many new contacts and links to talk to such that it would be easier for me to get a job.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a very good social scene amongst us all. We knew each other very well and get along really well also so it meant that we could talk and socialise and this was nice as I felt very comfortable over there and this environment was supportive and very ncie for me.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in London is of course high but you do not need to own accommodation near the studio because you can travel into work. There was a variety of socialising opportunities and there was a fair bunch that were actually reasonably priced in London so this was not too bad.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There was a lot of nightlife in London so there were things to do after working there which was fun as it meant we got to go out a lot and try many different things which was very fun for me as I also got to experience a new life of socialising with colleagues.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many opportunities to get involved in outside work. There was a real social scene so I was invited to many social events with the colleagues and I also got to experience the nightlife in the city which was really fun and quite a different experience for me, I feel, as there was so much.
