    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed the job here at J.P. Morgan. The internship was well planned, well structured with tremendous amount of resources poured into it (financial, time and energy). Training was provided for all interns with properly designed networking events to maximise the learning and experience of all interns. I would definitely recommend it

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues did not treat me like an intern but rather as a full time analyst. I was given jobs that do not undermine my capabilities but gave me the opportunity to work alongside everyone else on my team. Colleagues were also inclusive and helpful in giving me advice on all matters

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was very supportive and open to having coffee chats. It was part of the culture in the company to be always open for conversations with others regardless of the person’s level of experience. There was also various networking breakfast with managing directors held throughout the 10 weeks that provided very good knowledge

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was not overloaded with work on a daily basis. There may have been peak period where work was more heavy but it was still manageable. A typical day would be around 8.30am - 5.30pm with the latest I’ve stayed in the office being 7pm. However this is different across different teams.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibilities equivalent to a full time analyst. Furthermore I was also given the benefit on working in a range of different work that gives me a broader range of knowledge without being too attached to it in the long term. There may be some relatively admin work given but some work were of significance importance to the bank

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I personally think that the skills and training given is very job specific and does not exactly transfer to my degree studies. This is because uni studies are very academic but the work experience was more practical instead. However, beyond the degree studies it was definitely applicable and very useful in the long term

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • 4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall internship was extremely well thought of. It was very properly structured and designed to give the interns the best possible experience. It was set up in a way that we have a very good balance of networking and the work on the desk so that we gain the most out of it

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment is definitely very possible within the company. The internship program is structured majorly to hire full time analysts into the graduate program. However, it is extremely competitive such that only the best can get through to be offered a full time role. There is also a mobility program that allows you to be considered for a role in another line of business

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Social among the other interns and colleagues are great, especially since it was the summer. There were 3 interns social planned by the company and the HR team to allow us all to network with other interns in other line of business. Teams also had drinks almost every Friday evening

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living in London was pretty high. It wasn’t the cheapest place to live in. On top of accommodation expenses, there was also cost of transportation which wasn’t cheap. Food is not cheap in London too. All in all, cost of living in London is relatively high compared to other major cities.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Outside of the day to day job, there were a lot of opportunities to be involved in activities outside of work. There was a corporate social responsibility day where all interns were assigned to a selection team that the bank had partnered with to allow us to contribute to the community
