The Role
I enjoyed it because I felt that my team were very helpful in supporting my project and development during my time here. I also enjoyed it because I have managed to learn about a lot of new tech / protocols / software development tools.
I felt valued, as mentioned previously, by my team because they were very supportive of my learning and my work project. They were encouraging and always there to answer any questions I had about the technical aspects of things. My buddy was very reassuring about my position as a new intern at the firm. However, I felt that some colleagues perhaps withdrew into themselves a bit more than others and therefore I hadn't the chance to interact with them as much as i would have liked.
I feel like I was a good amount of busy. When I had deadlines approaching, I was a bit more busy in getting my work done. However, every day I have the time to take an hour for lunch and to have a few meetings with people outside of my team.
It will help so much! I learned how to create a Python project, became a whiz in Bash and have a much deeper understanding of network protocols and IT automation! This is particularly helpful as someone interested in more low-level tech!
The Company
Very relaxed and casual. I liked it because it was relatively quiet and allowed you to focus when needed, but it's very easy to just get up and grab someone from your team or another for a coffee or lunch. There wasn't anything that particularly stuck out; the team were enthusiastic and funny and could joke, but also work, so I think it was a good balance.
I felt lucky that my experience felt very well-organized. The recruiters did a great job of balancing time at the desk with time with other teams / interns in order to really experience the firm as a whole. However, I am aware of a few interns whose teams did not have something for them to work on until the end of the fourth week (of a ten-week placement) which is unfortunately very poor organization.
There have been plenty of opportunities to work on soft skills through social / networking events, as well as presentations and one-on-one meetings. There has been a great emphasis on the recruitment / HCM side in career-driven development, which I think has helped me understand what I'd like to do as a career.

The Culture
Definitely. There were plenty of socials and networking events towards the beginning of the placement in order to encourage interns to meet, which became more infrequent as the workload increased throughout the internship, and after good connections were formed with others.
I'm not sure about living, but the cost of socializing depended on where you went / what you did. The restaurants / pubs / bars were fairly standard price for London, and you could get some pretty nice things.
