The Role
The work is very intense, but VERY rewarding! I learnt more in my 10 weeks at GS than in my three years of university. It is very interesting to understanding the inner workings of a financial firm such as Goldman Sachs, and the work sets you up for success further along in your career.
From day one, my team made me feel so comfortable and really helped me integrate myself within the dynamic. I felt so comfortable to go up to my manager, VP, or even MD with any questions or concerns I had. I was given projects that would genuinely make an impact on the team in the future, instead of simple admin work.
I had my manager and other analysts checking on me daily to help with my tasks, and who were interested in how I was completing the tasks. They always wanted to ensure that I felt comfortable to ask for help and support, and when I felt sure of myself, they would leave me to it.
In the 10 weeks that I was here, there were probably 3 days in which I was bored. There is always something to do, and when you felt bored or you didnt have any tasks to complete, you are able to go to your manager to ask for more tasks and sessions to further your skills.
I wasnt able to do big things such as payments, however, I was given quite a big project to complete at the start that I worked on thoughout my time here that will be put into production once I leave. I had daily tasks as well such as reports that were my responsibility.
SO MUCH!! I honestly learnt more during this internship than in all of my years of university! Not only does it give you a mroe clear understanding of the financial industry, but even simple products such as loans, equities, and derivatives, all of which I knew nothing about before GS. This has given me amazing experience and skills that I am so grateful for
The Company
Busy, but really nice and relaxed! When there were big projects going on, of course people git to work, but you could also go for a coffee with your colleagues and chat about your weekend. It was such a nice balance that I loved coming into the office!
Very organised! The team who handled the interns were very supportive and set up sessions, and then the team that I was put in was very good at handling and supporting an intern that I never felt lost or worried. There was always time for development and sessions to further understand different areas of the firm.
There was a ton of support, from all teams throughout. My team was always helping me with my day to day, but if I wanted to further understand another team or another area of the business, then I was able to have meetings with others to give me a basic run down of their inner workings. They always ensures that I felt supported and that I was developing my skills thoroughly.

Very good! I want to work here 100% after my internship. They set you up for success and support you throughout your career! There is always room for development and if you wish to explore a different part of the firm, or wish to move, there is a lot of support to do so
The Culture
YES YES YES! I felt like all of the interns in my division were a really close knit group of friends and we enjoyed going out on Fridays for a drink, or meeting up for lunch during the weeks. Having people who understand what you're going thorough during this really intense time is extremely helpful to make you feel comfortable and confident in your abilities.
London is expensive for living but if you get a flat share you could reduce your rent, and as for socializing, you need to be able to know where to go is you want a bit of a cheaper night out. Personally, me and other interns loved going to our local Weatherspoons on a Friday evening.
So many pubs and clubs around us! you really had your pick of anyplace you'd like to go depending on your budget and mood. Also central London in general just has a million places, you could go to a different place every night to be honest. But when you find your spot that is a designated meet up pub, thats the best!
The firm has many affinity networks that allows your to meet with like minded people, as well as there is a chance to do community work and help different charities, organisations, and schools, so you can feel like you are truly making a difference whilst working in a large organisation.
