    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I truly enjoyed the internship. It was an unparalleled opportunity to learn about the banking industry and to gain exposure to financial markets. The major plus were: - Opportunity to learn from top experts in the industry - Supportive environment with people at junior levels particularly keen to help and provide advices - Plenty of opportunities to meet other interns and build relationships

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given support all the times I asked for it, by junior and senior people and in particular by my manager, buddy and mentor. However, It was up to me to organise and prioritise my activities and little guidance was provided on the evolution and deliverable of the project

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The internship project was not particularly demanding and the time was more than enough to complete it. As a result, I had plenty of time to network with people across the bank and learn from their experience as well as to meet other interns and share feedbacks on the experience

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I worked on a long-term project of significant relevance for the team. Sometimes, I was given responsibility to complete research or realise analysis that were included in the output presented to the manager. However, involvement in daily activities was limited and I was given no responsibility with regard to the daily activities of the team

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My background was solid enough to understand the business and the experience add little to my academic knowledge. However, the internship was un unparalleled opportunity to understand the banking business and gain exposure to a variety of teams. Overall, it was of great importance to understand what is the career path that best suits me

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was really good. The environment is supportive and people are very open to discuss and help you if needed. I was able to develop a good professional relationship with my collegues and I had the chance to meet and speak with senior people. I think there should be more common spaces where people can meet and share ideas

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised. During the first week, the training was well-structured, the location comfortable and the speeches interesting. Over the 10 weeks, there were plenty of opportunities to learn from top professional (Executive Speaker Series) and to build solid relationships with other interns in different areas of the bank. I think the mid-term review could have provided more feedbacks to identify areas of improvement

    5/5

  • Future employment opportunities are really appealing. The Bank is a leader in the financial industry and the culture is a great plus. It provides the opportunity to work with high-profile clients and learn from the best expert in the industry. Moreover, it seems that the Company does care about employees and their development. internal mobility is another advantage

  • The cost of living in London is significant high compared to my home town. Rents in particular can be really expensive.
