Two week summer vacation scheme at Gateley Plc the Manchester office. A thoroughly enjoyable and insightful experience sitting in the employment team, where the entire team ranging from the trainee up to the partners were helpful and supportive. The firm put on a number of talks from the different departments which were interesting and useful, as well as social aspects with both trainees and the partners. The interview and presentation were challenging but not intentionally difficult.
Everyone made time to make conversation and support throughout my time at the firm, ranging from the trainee to the partners.
I was given a great level of responsibility and work, and was not just given dummy jobs or menial tasks such as photocopying.
The firm has a strong collaborative ethos and this was truly on show throughout the two weeks.
I was given a supervisor and a trainee who were both extremely supportive throughout my placement.
The department talks were also very insightful and helped give a flavour of the work and culture within the firm.
Finally, the social aspects were very helpful in giving support and guidance as we went for a meal with a number of trainees who gave their tips on training with the firm.
Developed a strong level of skills both in terms of a legal aspect and a personal aspect which will assist me moving forwards.
Additionally, the information provided from the various departmental talks has enabled me to gain a cleared understanding of the opportunities available at Gateley and thus allow me to consider in greater detail my next steps.
Very warm and welcoming. Everyone couldn't have been nicer and friendlier. Nobody was too busy to talk and everyone made time to stop and have a chat.
The Employment team were exceptionally friendly and supportive.
Finally, the social aspects such as a meal with trainees highlighted the friendly, welcoming atmosphere within the firm.
Induction day on day one allowed us to get an overview of the firm and listen to 'a day in the life of' talks from people within the firm.
Also had a talk from the marketing team to understand the marketing and brand elements, as well as the upcoming rebrand.
Finally, the various talks and the group presentation enabled us all to develop a greater understanding of the firm and build new skills.
£300 per week.
All the different department talks were great opportunities to meet different trainees, associates and partners and listen to them and ask them questions.
In addition, on the induction day we met a number of trainees which was very enjoyable and informative.
Throughout the two weeks, everyone made time to have a chat and ask some questions.
Finally the two social events were great to meet Futher people from within the firm.
Meal with the trainees at a nice restaurant after work which was very enjoyable and helpful.
All the trainees were extremely kind and informative, and gave real and truthful answers about what it's like training with the firm.
Leaving lunch also on the second to last day with all the other placement students and two senior figures - this was very relaxed and a great way to end the two weeks.
Both through talks and through the firm's intranet - FRED.
