    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • During my placement at Hengistbury Head (BCP Council) I was exposed to many aspects of habitat management, basic training on how to properly use machinery, expose to basic biological monitoring techniques of UK protected species and much more. This placement has truly been a learning experience in all aspects.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team at Hengistbury Head (BCP Council) are esialy one of the harders working crew I have ever meet. What I value the most of my time at Hengistbury Head is that from day one they made me feel as a member of staff and not like a placement or anything less.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Taking on new task and challenges is always daunting. However, my supervisors were always making sure that I was comfortable with the task I was supposed to undertake, providing precise explanations and or examples whenever possible in order for me to be able to complete the task at hand.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Different type of task are undertaken depending on the seasons at Hengistbury Head. Some seasons might have more workload than others, but nothing that can't be done in a regular 8 hour day of work. As a placement, I was kept very busy either doign some practical work out in the filed and or the occasional presentation, light reading and or learning how to use a piece of software crucial for the tasks to be undertaken later that week.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Once the staff got to know my strengths and weaknesses, I was assigned different task that were either undertaking individually or by a small group of placement. When there is a lot of things to do at the reserve the staff does not hesitate to delegate some of the work needed to be done.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The experience that I have earned at Hengistbury Head (BCP Council) as a Placement Ranger is extremely valuable for my long term goals of obtaining a job in the environmental sector.

  • It's always great an pleasant to come into work at the reserve. Some times the weather might not be the best and you might no be looking forward to working outside but working alongside such a nice and bright team makes all the difference in the world.

    5/5

  • Everything is really well-organized management staff is very responsive to emails and emails are sent of any events and or special activities that might be going on a particular week.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
