    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight week very much, as it really introduced me to different job opportunities in the technology sector at J.P.Morgan, and it showed me what their daily work was like. There were also many networking events, in which we could chat with current employees and get their personal review of their work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued at the company, as starting from the first day of the spring program, the company kept emphasizing how much they value our talents, how difficult it was to get into this spring week, and how much they wanted us to join J.P. Morgan after the insight week.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received much guidance from the engineers, HR, and senior people working in different departments of the company. For example, during a coding challenge, each team was assigned a senior engineer from the company to help us, and the one on my team really helped us to schedule our plan and focus on the most important tasks, as well as improve our program.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Before the Spring into Technology program, I had very little knowledge about how banks operate and what their technology sector does exactly. This program was a fully immersive experience of their tech job and a fun experience of the company culture. It helped me find out whether I am suitable for this industry and type of work.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured. I could clearly see that J.P.Morgan has many years of experience in organizing this type of programs. Within 5 days, it gave us time to adapt to the new environment, learn about the company and even the town, develop and apply our skills, and reflect to move on.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was a nice balance of work and relaxation, although due to the nature of the spring program, you do feel the stress from a full schedule and implicit assessment on your performance. Nonetheless, people in the company were very friendly and supportive, and they were happy to chat about whatever your interest was. So the overall atmosphere was very friendly and pleasant.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company got many people in their technology sector to help out in our spring week, and there were some major events which really took up much time and energy of their employees. I could feel that the company invested much in our personal training, and they really tried to give us a fruitful experience.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I had very little knowledge about the job content and different choices in the technology sector at J.P. Morgan before the program, and after it I now feel I know much more about them. I also had the chance to build up personal connections with their employees, and ask a lot of questions about their daily work.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • It was a fully immersive experience of the company culture. Their value and culture were expressed through the presentations from their employees, the volunteering events they run alongside their regular business, their attitudes towards the environment, and the way they collaborate and work. I could really see how much responsibility in the society J.P.Morgan is dedicated to take during the insight.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It let me fully experience the daily work of their employees by work shadowing etc., and it was very insightful and inspiring. I could feel the pace of their work, and find out whether it was something I was looking for. What's more, if you feel that the work in this sector is not what you want, you can always ask people about the rest of the business of JP, and you may find something you like but had never heard of before.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • My travel was reimbursed and accommodation was paid.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty opportunities for networking, and we had the chance to meet people at different levels in the company. So we could find out more about the job progress within the company. We met other people in all kinds of occasions and events, including work shadowing, networking lunch and coding challenges.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were generally very good, and the people at the networking events were friendly and chatty. Some of them were even from offices in the US, and they introduced different aspects of the work at the company. However, for some of those events, they did not leave enough time to us to ask all the questions we had.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • They could do sports, volunteering, workshops to improve coding skills, etc. There were also regular talks organized by employees in the company, in which they could talk about any topics including the environment, lifestyle, the society and so on. Most of those people that I met during the program said they had many choices of activities outside work.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes. This is a very good program to get involved no matter whether you are determined to go into banking or have no idea and just want to find out more.
