The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the range of activities Morgan Sindall had assigned me throughout the placement. The broad range of work gave me a good understanding of how the company works as a whole.
I truly felt at home from day one. My colleagues were always willing to give help whenever I needed it and always welcomed me to any group activities they doing.
I was assigned a 'buddy' from day one, he was always there whenever I needed assistance with any tasks given to me.
The amount of tasks I were involved in would change from week to week, I had weeks where I was non-stop working, and others where I could have more of a relaxed approach. This balance worked well with me throughout the year.
My company had given me a lot of trust with assigning me large tasks throughout the placement, these included collating a tender document, organising subcontractor packages and seeing them thorugh, and finally being in charge of the CCS for a construction project.
Morgan Sindall gave me a good balance of office-based work and site-based work, this gave me a broad understanding of how the construction projects flows from start to finish. These skills gave me an advantage over others in my final year at University.
The Company
I was based in the office for half my placement, and site for the other. The atmosphere was very different with the two. Site was a lot of fun, but a lot of work needed to be done, whereas the office had more of a relaxed atmosphere which is enjoyable when work needs to be done.
Each placement student has a booklet with a range of tasks to complete. The booklet aims to make sure each student gets involved in all parts of a construction project.
Morgan Sindall was always very willing to train for any needs that were required. Throughout the year I was involved in CSCS, SSSTS and Computer technology training schemes.

Morgan Sindall seem to be an aspiring company who always aims to improve. If they give me a chance to return I would be over the moon.
The Culture
They were 3 other placement students within the office of a similar age. It was nice to have someone to share your experience with and ask questions that you were not willing to ask any colleagues.
I was living at home for half the year and with my sister for the second half. I didn't socialise as much much as I would've liked, but that was the sacrifice I was willing to make.
Reigate center wasn't the best, but the next town, Redhill, had a few decent places to go to.
The company had activity days such as go-karting and golf which was a lot of fun.
