    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement with Asda, the hours were flexible and my manager was great with any dates you need off if you let them know beforehand, all the staff were nice and friendly which made it easier getting up and going to work, would recommend giving them a go!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All the members of staff were lovely they were very welcoming and made me feel apart of the team straight away even management, they were quick to help if there was something I didn't know or needed help with which is just what newbies need when starting a job, just a lovely set if people

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager and supervisor were both amazing full support was there whenever it was needed by any member of staff, they were great with hours and time off, my supervisor helped me so much when I first started really gave me the boost in confidence I needed so I would say there support is fantastic

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Really busy from start to finish of your shift, there was always something to be doing wether you were serving on the tills, stocking shelves or back in the warehouse, I liked this though as it makes your shift go so much quicker when your constantly doing something and not just stood doing nothing

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The biggest responsibility I had was when I was on the tills handling money, most of the time I was in the warehouse opening pallets or on the shop floor restocking shelves and helping customers as and when they asked, I preferred being on the shop floor as it was more active and passed time quicker

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I really enjoyed my time at asda I made some friends for life and learnt so much, I think the social side of it will help me continue with my studies and the social aspect of it has definitely helped bring out my confidence so much more than I ever could have imagined

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was great I actually loved getting up and going to work everyday it was like being part of a big family everybody looked out for one and other and always helped if anybody needed any, the atmosphere was relaxed and very friendly just want you want I'm a job

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Really well organised everything was done and ready for me, I was really impressed with how quick and easy everything happened, this is just what you need when starting your placement stress and hassle free as I was nervous and unsure of what to expect but it was great in the end

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I wasn't really trained but I wasn't expecting to get trained up to be honest, I didn't plan on staying long term so I didn't require training because of that, but If I had of chosen to stay i know they are quick to get you trained up as quick as possible

  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would definitely go back to my store as it was just a great atmosphere overall and I know they like to get you trained up quick which is good as it also means higher salary as you progress with the company, I would most definitely recommend applying with them

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes the social scene between colleagues was great everybody got along fantastic i still speak to most of them daily and we all go out together socially iv made friends for life, while working there we all regularly went out at the weekends for food or a trip to the cinema

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cheap compared to some places I have been my rent was cheap but I did house share with 2 other people which makes it easier, food and socialising were also so much cheaper you just have to shop around, lots of cheap bars and restaurants and a aldi not to far away

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Absolutely awesome full of bars and restaurants and nightclubs in the town centre so much to do for everybody, the bars and restaurants were great though cheap and cheerful just what you need when your a struggling student, most of the places offer student discount too which is great for us

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Endless amounts of out of work activities were set up we all regularly met up to go to the cinema or for food and drinks we also went bowing quite alot or to laser quest most weekends we had lots of social events planned out of work most weekends which was great
