    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was an insightful experience and we were given a lot of information. Overall, the programme was good and I enjoyed it. The intern class were friendly and sociable which was great as it made the experience more enjoyable. I wouldn't say that a career in the Operations is for me, as the division seemed a bit bland, but all in all, a well-structured programme.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • It was evident that a lot of time and effort that went into planning the Operations spring week as we had a project to do and also sessions to attend everyday. This in itself shows that the interns were highly valued. The recruiters who organised the programme answered any questions we had and made sure we were comfortable and doing ok through or time there.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • As previously mentioned, HR were always around to answer any questions and clear up any doubts that we had which was really helpful. The professionals from the Operations division who came in to give presentations and project insights told us that no question was a silly question, so they really encouraged us to engage and interact with them.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As I study a humanities subject, there is no knowledge that I can apply to my degree. However, the skills that I developed on the programme will be of great use to me. We completed a group presentation project and this allowed us to strengthen our teamwork, time-management and organisation skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well structured. On the first week we were given a timetable of the all the events we had to attend and it was very clear and concise. There was always something for us to do which was great, and we were kept busy. Whether it was by events organised by HR or coffee meetings we arranged ourselves.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • For the Operations division, it was a nice atmosphere and the intern class was very friendly. I made friend with my intern class and still keep in touch with them! Overall, the atmosphere of the programme was very inspiring and motivational. We were encouraged to keep pushing and bettering ourselves, and to pursue future careers at Goldman Sachs too.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were paid for the time hat we spent there, so we were invested int hat way. We were also given email accounts, and security passes which was great as we really had the freedom to take control of our time there. The project insights and case studies that we took part in were insightful and allowed to apply our knowledge.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • As the programme was quite long, I got an insight what a full-time role would be like. Also through networking with professionals. We attended many presentations on the sub-divisions within Operations, so we were given a more genuine insight into the array of possible roles available. The insight was very good in terms of finding out how Goldman Sachs values their employees.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight was very helpful in understanding the culture at Goldman Sachs in every area of the bank. From HR to the division that we got a specific insight in. The affinity networks that are at Goldman Sachs also organised events so it was great to see how active the staff are in including others in diversity initiatives.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the whole two weeks spent at Goldman Sachs was insightful,. We attended many presentations and gave a presentation of our too. The buddy we were assigned was also helpful in giving career advice too. The recruitment team madeit very clear that we should, if interested, apply to Goldman Sachs for future opportunities as we possess skills that they are looking for, even if it was not in the division that we attended the spring internship for
