About You
I very much enjoyed the insight; it provided me with a good understanding of the firm and the Investment banking industry. It was a great opportunity to find out more about the daily life of an Analyst at GS and the different divisions within the firm. I can highly recommend the programme!
I immediately felt like being part of the firm. All interns were encouraged to meet with current employees to find out more about their teams and experience at GS. We were given plenty of opportunities to make use of the firm's many resources in e-learning, mental and physical well- being.
Because Goldman Sachs places a strong emphasis on teamwork, I never felt like being left alone with any of my tasks. There was always the opportunity for seeking additional help from Analysts, team mates or HR even though we were strongly encouraged to read up on any unknown material ourselves.
The skill set I acquired during the Spring Insight is very broad, ranging from effective time management to communication skills and teamwork. The 2 day vendor training will be particularly useful for a future career in this sector as it provided me with the fundamentals of accountancy, financing and valuation techniques.
The Company
The Insight was very well structured. We were given a schedule at the beginning of the two weeks which outlined all activities during the programme, involving many presentations with senior speakers, workshops and case studies. This is certainly one of the reasons, we were able to learn as much as possible about the firm during our stay.
The general atmosphere was very friendly and collegiate, with other interns generally helping each other out and organising activities in the evenings/on the weekend. All in all, I can say that I met some of the most exceptional people in my year group during the internship, with everyone coming from very diverse backgrounds.
The opportunities for personal development and training are fantastic at GS, with many resources available to use online and in person. There is a general culture of "learning", where it is very much encouraged to continuously develop new skills.
By talking to current employees it was possible to understand what a full time role would look like. Due to compliance reasons, however, we weren't able to work on a desk.
Through various talks and presentations we got a very good insight into the company's culture.
very valuable
