    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a great opportunity to see what life of an investment banker really is- we had a chance to go through case studies, attend talks and interviews with senior people. I met so many talented and hardworking people from all over the world and learned a lot in terms of technical details

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt a strong sense of belonging to the firm because we had a chance to meet with employees from different divisions and everyone was extremely approachable and willing to help us out during the internship. Despite being there for only two weeks every intern felt like we were an important part of the firm

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Everyone was really supportive- the Human Resources team were always there for us and ready to help with any queries that we had. I absolutely loved how our curiosity was encouraged- we could ask even senior people for help and everyone was very open and approachable. It important to say I learned a lot from guidance of my peers as well

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I had a very steep learning curve and developed my technical skills. However, my personal growth is what I am especially happy with- I used to be extremely scared of public speaking and meeting new people at the start. By the end of the program, my speech opened a debate and I have met many new exciting people.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Our timetable was very packed and there were always many thing on our agenda. But great event organization and well structured program made the learning experience very enjoyable. We had a chance to apply our theoretical knowledge to practical situations which enabled us to get a better understanding of the concept.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The week was very busy but it was so exciting nonetheless, my fellow interns were great and the atmosphere there was very friendly. I always felt like I had a great support network and it helped me a lot to settle into the firm. I really had a great time and made friends with people from all over the world

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The support for personal development was great. We had a training session which really helped to grasp on essential concepts and to brush up on our technical skills. We were encouraged to ask questions throughout, which I used to clarify areas I was not particularly confident about. We met both junior and senior staff who were always happy to guide us through the program.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • When I first joined the insight, I had very limited knowledge about the firm and what it was like being an Investment Banker. I only had a vague idea of what the employees were doing on daily basis. Over the course of the insight, we had a chance to talk to so many people, that I left feeling like I know this firm well having been a part of it.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I knew that Goldman Sachs is one of the leading financial services companies in the world. However, I was unfamiliar with the values of the company, the deals they do and the people working there. I was positively surprised about how seriously they treat ethics and 'doing the right thing' - I think it is essential these days.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Over the course of the insight, I learned so much about the company and what they do. I got to meet so many inspirational people working for the firm and I learned so much not only from them, but also from my fellow interns. Such great experiences have convinced me that Investment Banking would be a suitable career path for me

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I feel like we were paid fairly. I live in the same city the insight was in, so I did not have travel costs. However, our insight group was very diverse and the majority of people travelled from abroad. I know they were reimbursed for travel costs. Accommodation was also provided by the firm

  • I was very surprised by the number of networking opportunities we had at the firm. We got to meet and talk to both junior and senior staff. Such events were the most useful for me in terms of getting a feel of what it is like to work for the firm.
